Imam Khomeini Memorial Trust Kargil Sends Relief Convoy for Punjab Flood Victims

Kargil, Sep 8/ VOL News Desk/ In the wake of devastating floods across several parts of the country, particularly in Punjab, thousands of families have been displaced and are struggling for survival. Extending a gesture of humanitarian solidarity, the Imam Khomeini Memorial Trust (IKMT) Kargil has dispatched a relief convoy to support the affected communities.
As a prominent religious and social organisation in the Union Territory of Ladakh, IKMT has mobilised its volunteer wings, Basij Imam and Basij Ruhaniyun, to deliver relief in Punjab. A brief ceremony was held this morning at Khomeini Tower, Kargil, where IKMT Chairman Hujjat-ul-Islam Sheikh Sadiq Rajai and Chairman of the Ulama Council Hujjat-ul-Islam Sheikh Mohammad Mohaqeq, along with other members, bid farewell to the departing team.
The convoy will provide humanitarian aid including food, medicines, and essential supplies, while also assessing the on-ground situation to ensure more effective assistance in the future.
Speaking at the event, IKMT Chairman Sheikh Rajai said, “It is our collective duty to stand with affected families in this hour of crisis. Our endeavour is to ensure timely and effective relief where it is most needed, while planning sustainable support going forward.”
Donation boxes are being installed at various locations across Kargil city to encourage citizens to contribute generously towards the relief effort. The organisation has appealed to the public to actively participate in this humanitarian mission.
The Imam Khomeini Memorial Trust has a history of extending relief efforts beyond Ladakh. It has supported victims of wars and natural disasters at national and international levels, including aid for people in Gaza. In 2014, during the catastrophic floods in Kashmir, IKMT had dispatched rescue and relief teams, earning wide recognition across the state.
This relief convoy not only reflects a strong commitment to humanitarian service but also highlights the organisation’s religious and social responsibility to stand by people in times of hardship.
