Kargil, August 30/ VOL News Desk/ A Unity of Ummah Conference was organised by the Baseej-e-Roohaniyun under the aegis of the Imam Khomeini Memorial Trust (IKMT), Kargil, at the Mirwaiz Conference Hall of Khomeini Tower, with religious scholars, mosque imams and other religious personalities from different schools of thought participating in the event.

The conference focused on promoting unity and solidarity among Muslims, mutual brotherhood and tolerance, and the need for a collective approach to address contemporary challenges.
The conference was presided over by Hujjat-ul-Islam Sheikh Mohammad Hussain Lotfi, Chairman of the Advisory Council of the Imam Khomeini Memorial Trust, Kargil.

Addressing the gathering, religious scholars referred to the Quranic verse, “And hold firmly to the rope of Allah all together and do not be divided,” and stressed the importance of preventing divisions and strengthening unity among Muslims.

The speakers said that while differences of opinion on theological and jurisprudential matters may exist, Muslims can remain united on the basis of shared religious, humanitarian and moral values.
They described unity of the Muslim community as one of the fundamental teachings of the Quran and the Ahl al-Bayt, and called for differences to be prevented from becoming a source of division. Instead, they urged people to focus on common values and shared concerns.

The speakers also referred to the life and teachings of Imam Ayatollah Sayyid Ali Khamenei, describing them as an example of efforts towards unity, humanitarianism, justice and equality. They said such efforts could help bring people belonging to different schools of thought closer together.
The speakers further said that the teachings of the Quran and Ahl al-Bayt not only emphasise unity among Muslims but also encourage support for oppressed and disadvantaged communities and advocacy for their rights. They expressed solidarity with the Palestinian people and said that supporting the oppressed was both a religious and humanitarian responsibility.

Imam-e-Juma of Drass, Maulana Mohammad Abdullah, welcomed the participation of scholars and mosque imams in the conference organised as part of Unity Week. He also appreciated the leadership of the Imam Khomeini Memorial Trust for organising the programme.

Maulana Abdullah said that at a time when the world is facing conflict and unrest, following the life and teachings of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ in practical life and promoting unity and brotherhood among Muslims were among the most important needs of the hour.
Referring to another Quranic verse describing the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ as compassionate and deeply concerned for believers, he said the Prophet’s life provided an example for humanity and demonstrated how compassion, mercy and concern for others could guide society away from conflict and towards brotherhood.

The speakers also urged participants to play an active role in combating social evils including injustice, bribery and corruption. They called for greater efforts to promote piety, awareness, unity, tolerance and humanitarian values among the younger generation.

During the conference, speakers also expressed strong concern over what they described as alleged objectionable activities during the recently held Suru Summer Festival. They condemned such activities and stressed the need to safeguard religious and moral values in society.
The programme also featured recitations of Naat by participants, creating a spiritual atmosphere during the gathering.

Among those present were Hujjat-ul-Islam Sheikh Mohammad Mohqiq, Haji Asghar Ali Karbalai and Vice-Chairman of the Imam Khomeini Memorial Trust, Hujjat-ul-Islam Sheikh Hasnain Rizwani, besides religious scholars, mosque imams and religious personalities representing different schools of thought.
At the conclusion, participants pledged to promote unity, mutual respect and brotherhood among Muslims. They said that in the prevailing circumstances, setting aside differences and coming together on the basis of shared religious and humanitarian values was the need of the hour.
