KARGIL, APRIL 01, 2021: Rural Development Department organized a training cum awareness programme for Self Help Group (SHG) members of Sankoo block under the National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM) at Sankoo sub division here today.

Assistant Commissioner Development (ACD), Kargil Ghulam Muhammad, Scientist SKUAST Dr Rinchan Dolkar, Agriculturist Raziya Banoo, members of the SHGs and village organizations besides good number of farmers were present on the occasion.

On the occasion, ACD Kargil briefed the SHG members about the management, packaging and marketing process of onion so that women in rural areas would get good returns for their produce.

He also stressed that through the (NRLM) scheme, women will not only get economic upliftment but they will also feel socially empowered.

Scientist SKUAST Dr Rinchan Dolkar briefed the SHG members about the various agricultural activities under the NRLM scheme while Agriculturist Raziya Banoo enlightened the SHG members about the onion cultivation besides other agricultural and allied activities.

Pertinently, National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM) was launched by the Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India and its aim is to create efficient and effective institutional platforms for the rural poor enabling them to increase household income through sustainable livelihood enhancement and improved access to financial services.
