Foundation Stone Laid for Library-cum-Women Gathering Centre at Palam

Leh, April 16: The Anjuman-E-Imamia Women Wing, Leh, today organised a foundation stone laying ceremony for a Library-cum-Women Gathering Centre at Palam. The facility is envisioned as a vibrant space for learning, community interaction, and the empowerment of women in the region.

Executive Councillor Ghulam Mehdi attended the event as the Chief Guest on behalf of the Chairman, LAHDC Leh, Tashi Gyalson. President of Anjuman-E-Imamia, Ashraf Ali Barcha, Nominated Councillor Mumtaz Hussain and Dr. Yangchan Dolma, were present as the Guest of Honour.

Also in attendance were President of the Women’s Wing of Anjuman-E-Imamia; Presidents of the Women’s Wings of the Ladakh Buddhist Association, Christian Association, and Anjuman-e-Moin-ul-Islam; President of the Women’s Alliance of Ladakh; Anjuman -E- Imamiya Vice President; ACD Leh; Chief Controller of Finance, LAHDC Leh; Xen Construction Division; Nambardar of Chuchot, and several other dignitaries and local residents.

CEC Tashi Gyalson commended the Anjuman-E-Imamia Women’s Wing and its President Nasreen Maryam for their sustained dedication towards women’s empowerment and community upliftment. He lauded the vision behind the centre, describing it as a much-needed initiative that will foster education, dialogue, and social development, especially for women in the area.

He further assured that the Hill Council remains committed to supporting such initiatives that aim at educational growth and inclusive community development. He reiterated that women’s empowerment continues to be a key focus for the Council, and welcomed such grassroots efforts that align with that vision.

Speaking on the occasion, Hon’ble Executive Councillor Ghulam Mehdi congratulated the Anjuman-E-Imamia Women Wing on the laying of the foundation stone for the Women Gathering Centre. He appreciated the efforts of the President and Executive Members for their dedicated work in empowering women, particularly those from underprivileged backgrounds, and acknowledged their significant contribution to the socio-economic upliftment of Ladakh’s minority communities.
