Kargil – The Al Itihad Youth Foundation Goma Kargil organized a thanks giving program and a one-day workshop on Library Culture at the Sheeda Bintul Hudda Library in Goma Kargil. The event marked the Inauguration of the “Basant Rath (IPS) Shelf,” by the Chief Guest, Dr. Salim Yousuf, Principal, Degree College Sankoo.

The other guests on the occasion were Mr Sajjad Sir, (Principal GHSS Trespone), Kacho Abass (Lecturer) and Anayat Ali, Senior Journalist/ Copy Editor at Akashwani News Kargil as Guest of Honour and Dr Ghulam Mehdi (An Educator and Social Entrepreneurs) as Special Guest. 

In a philanthropic gesture, “The Rama Trust”,  led by Mr Basant Rath (IPS), donated a collection of competitive exam books to the Sheeda Bintul Hudda Library through Dr. Ghulam Mehdi. This initiative aims to equip aspiring students in the region with crucial academic resources, aiding them in their pursuit of success in various competitive examinations.

During the event, speakers highlighted the vital role that libraries play in society and emphasized the importance of fostering a strong library culture. Dr. Salim Yousuf expressed his deep gratitude for the generous donation By Basant Rath (IPS), noting that these resources would greatly benefit local students by providing them with the tools necessary to achieve their academic goals.

Sajjad Sir, the Guest of Honour, underscored the significance of libraries in reducing screen time among students, which is a growing concern globally. 

Dr. Ghulam Mehdi, reflecting on the ongoing efforts of Basant Rath (IPS) and the Rama Trust to donate books and establishing libraries across Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, remarked, “Education is a key pillar of happiness and well-being. By equipping students with these reference books, we aim to nurture their academic growth and aspirations.”
