Why Do Many People Prefer Going Outside Kargil for Medical Treatment?

In Kargil, a sentence is often heard when someone falls sick:

“Don’t depend only on the local hospital. Go to Kashmir.”

This advice is given by neighbors, relatives, and even well-wishers. But why has this thought become so common?

Many patients share similar experiences. They go to the hospital in Kargil, explain their health problem, and get some tests done. The doctors say the reports are normal and there is no serious issue.

But later, when the same patient goes to Kashmir for further check-up, the test results are different. A problem is found. In some cases, the disease is already at a serious stage. Because of late diagnosis, treatment becomes difficult.

This situation creates fear and confusion among people.

This Is About Concern, Not Blame

This article is not written to blame doctors or hospital staff. Medical work is difficult, and doctors try their best. But patients also need trust and confidence.

When people hear many such cases, they start believing that local hospitals are good only for small problems. For serious illness, they feel it is safer to go outside Kargil.

That is why people keep giving the same suggestion again and again:

“Don’t wait. Go to Kashmir.”

What Could Be the Reasons?

There may be many reasons behind this belief, such as:

Lack of specialist doctors

Limited medical machines and tests

Heavy workload on doctors

Less detailed checking in early stages

Poor follow-up with patients

Even when tests are done, patients feel that their problems are not studied deeply.

The Problem of Late Detection

Late diagnosis can be dangerous. Diseases that could be treated early sometimes become serious. Families suffer stress, money problems, and emotional pain.

Many people later say,

“If we had known earlier, things could be different.”

Why This Issue Should Be Discussed

When many people lose confidence in local healthcare, it is a serious matter. This does not mean the system has failed completely—but it clearly needs improvement.

People do not want luxury hospitals. They want:

Proper checking

Correct diagnosis

Clear communication

Timely treatment

A Need for Attention and Improvement

This article does not give final answers. It only raises a common concern of the people. When the same words are spoken in many homes, they should not be ignored.

Better facilities, more specialists, and careful medical investigation can help rebuild trust.

Until then, people will continue to say: “Everything looks fine here… until you go elsewhere.”

And that thought alone should make us pause and reflect.
