VoL Desk, Jan. 06: Administration and Border Roads Organisation (BRO) officially closed Zojila pass in a closing ceremony here at Zero Point today after a record of keeping the pass open for vehicular movement upto January 06. The Zojila is closed considering the cold weather, avalanche and wind storm.

The Zojila pass was closed last year on January 04, 2022, of which a new record has imprinted this year with keeping the pass open till January 06. The officials have assured to reopen the Zojila is the weather improves.

In a press statement to news agencies, BRO officials said that the extended opening of Zojila pass was carried out by BRO for the first time in 2020 keeping in view the Northern borders and since then it has been continued in 2021, and 2022.

More than 20 heavy-duty plant equipment including four state-of-the-art snow cutters were employed to keep the axis open. BRO has also completed successful trials of route guidance & navigation system technology for snow clearance eqpt to enhance efficiency and safety while performing snow clearance operations.
