LG Mathur called on MoS Science and Technology Dr Jitendra Singh
KARGIL, FEBRUARY 14, 2021: Lieutenant Governor, UT Ladakh, R K Mathur Monday called on Minister for Science and Technology, Earth Sciences, and PP/DoPT Dr Jitendra Singh in New Delhi, tweeted the LG Office.
LG Mathur informed Dr Jitendra of the need for support from Survey of India in carrying out land survey for areas not covered under SVAMITVA scheme.
The LG requested the Minister for approving posting of more IFoS officers to Ladakh and appraised of the need for repeated training for about 2 years for Secretariat employees.
He also requested to consider posting of an IAS officer of JS Level for effective functioning of Sindhu Infrastructure Development Corporation (SIDCo) in Ladakh.
Pertinent to mention that the LG Office on 31 January informed that the (SIDCo) will be one of the prime contributors in executing infrastructure works in Ladakh, one of the major pillars for development.
On the same day the President of India office informed that the Sindhu Infrastructure Development Corporation has been set up to accelerate infrastructure and economic development in the Union Territory of Ladakh.
The LG further informed that the Ladakh administration has completed the prerequisite for commencing its functioning.
The LG Ladakh informed Dr Jitendra of the progress of commercial plantation of medicinal plants including sea buckthorn and sanjeevani; need for technology interventions for ice and snow related tourism events; introduction gamma ray technology through Bhabha Atomic Research Centre for improving shelf-life of Ladakhi apricots.
Dr Jitendra in a tweet said that the ministry will help Ladakh in set up latest Snow Sculpture Start Up technology which would not only create job opportunities for locals but could also emerge as a huge attraction for winter tourists.
