KARGIL, JULY 30, 2021: One day Basic Literacy Assessment Test (BLAT) 2021 under Padhna Likhna Abhiyan conducted successfully by Directorate of School Education UT Ladakh in collaboration with National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) here today.

Around 10,000 Adult Learners have
been identified under Padhna Likhna Abhiyan Scheme in the 1st phase in UT of Ladakh and around 8000 Adult Learner attended the Assessment Test, said the Directorate of School Education in a press release.

The Assessment Test was monitored by Chief Education Officer Leh and Kargil at District level and Zonal level monitoring team have also been constituted. The NCERT has framed standard Minimum Learning Outcomes for the Adult Learner under the scheme.

It is aimed to extends educational option to those adults who have lost the opportunity of formal education and transcended the age of formal education, and now feel a need for learning of any type, including, literacy, basic education, vocational education (skill development), equivalency, physical and emotional development, practical arts, applied science, or recreation.

It is to mention here that in view of COVID 19 situation all States/UTs have
adopted promotion policy for learner except few States/UTs including Ladakh have been allowed to conduct Assessment Test by the Ministry of Education.
