The tenth death anniversary of Hujjat-ul-Islam wal Muslimeen Sheikh Mohammad Hussain Zakiri, founder of Imam Khomeini Memorial Trust (IKMT) and Motahhari Educational Society (MES), was observed with reverence and solemnity in Kargil on July 28.

A commemorative gathering, including a condolence meeting and Fateha recitation, was organised by the Motahhari Educational Society at Imam Khomeini Tower, Kargil. The event witnessed participation from religious scholars, members of MES, social figures, and a large number of local residents.
Speakers at the event highlighted the late Sheikh Zakiri’s contributions to religious, educational, and social development in the region. They noted his efforts in promoting both religious and modern education in Kargil, nurturing the younger generation, and raising social awareness.

The speakers paid tribute to his vision, sincerity, and dedication to public service, stating that his legacy would continue to inspire future generations.
Earlier in the day, a Fateha ceremony was held at 8 am at his grave located in Bagh-e-Khomeini, where scholars associated with IKMT, members of MES, and members of the public gathered to offer prayers for the departed soul.

Later, Hujjat-ul-Islam Agha Syed Mohammad Ambe addressed the gathering, elaborating on Sheikh Zakiri’s scholarly and religious stature, his lifelong struggles, and his invaluable contributions to society.
The programme concluded with special prayers for the elevation of the deceased’s rank, unity among the Muslim community, and peace and prosperity in the region.
