VOL News Desk/ Hon’ble Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC Kargil, Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon has condemned in the strongest and most unequivocal terms the dastardly and cowardly firing incident on the President National Conference (NC) and former Chief Minister Jammu & Kashmir, Janab Dr. Farooq Abdullah Sahab, at a public function also attended by Deputy Chief Minister Janab Surinder Choudhary Ji.

Dr. Akhoon termed the attack on such a senior, respected and veteran democratic leader a direct and dangerous assault on democratic values and the rule of law. He expressed deep concern and serious anguish over the grave security lapse in the Z+ security cover of Janab Dr. Farooq Abdullah Sahab that allowed such a shameful and alarming incident to occur in full public view. He demanded a stringent and thorough investigation into the matter, strict accountability to be fixed for the security lapse at every level, and stern action against those responsible so that such a failure is never repeated.

He expressed profound relief and gratitude to the Almighty for the safety of Janab Farooq Abdullah Sahab and other dignitaries present at the function and made it absolutely clear that such heinous, brazen and cowardly acts of violence against democratic leaders are a black mark on democracy and shall not be tolerated under any circumstances.
