Kargil Celebrates Eid-e-Ghadeer with Unity and Solidarity
Kargil Observes Eid-e-Ghadeer with Massive Processions, Scholars Denounce Israeli Atrocities Kargil News Desk, June 15, 2025: On the occasion of Eid-e-Ghadeer, which commemorates the declaration of the
wilayah (successorship) of Amir al-Momineen Hazrat Ali ibn Abi Talib (A.S.), grand celebrations were held across Kargil district with deep reverence and devotion. Thousands of faithful men and women participated enthusiastically, highlighting the spiritual and historical significance of the day.
The largest and central gathering was organized by the Imam Khomeini Me morial Trust (IKMT) at Hussaini Park, LEH where thousands of devotees braved the intense heat to attend. Over 5,000 Students of Darul Qurans from across the district joined a massive procession, LEH Ladakh’s Local Contractors Formstarting from Zainabiya Chowk and passing through Fatima Chowk, Isna, Ashariya Chowk, and Khomeini Chowk before reaching Hussaini Park. Participants carried placards in soli darity with the oppressed people of Palestine, condemning Israeli atrocities and recent attacks on Iran.
The chief guest, Prof. Syed Muham mad Asghar, HOD of the Shia Theology Department at Aligarh Muslim University, delivered an insightful speech on the message of Ghadeer and its relevance today Other speakers included Hujjatul Islam Agha Syed Ka zim Sabri and Sheikh Anwar Sharafuddin, while the event was presided over by Hujjatul Islam Sheikh Muhammad Mohaqiq, Chairman of the Advisory Council, IKMT. Students of Darul Quran recited naats and manqabats in praise of Mawla Ali (A.S.), and winners of the Quranic book-reading competition titled “Quran in the Life of Ruhullah” were awarded prizes.

The Zainabiya Women’s Wel fare Society (IKMT Women’s Wing) organized a separate spiritual event at Zainabiya Convention Hall, Haidari Mohalla, attended by hundreds of women and children. The gathering expressed solidarity with Palestine and Iran, strongly condemning the crimes of Israel and its allies. The program concluded with Dua-e-Imam Zamana (A.S.) and special prayers for humanity’s well-being.
The IKMT thanked the Ahle-Sunnat Committee for providing the Eidgah, demonstrating interfaith unity. Appreciation was also extended to the district administration, Ladakh Police, Basij-e-Imam, Basij-e-Ruhanion, Baqriya Health Care, Municipal Committee, and other supporters.
The Eid celebrations was also held across Kargil. The Jami yat Ulama Isna Ashariya held a major event at Islamia School, Kargil, where scholars empha sized Ghadeer’s importance. Sub-divisions like Drass, Shakar Chiktan, Shargole, TSG, Bursu, Suru, and Sankoo also celebrated the Eid with great fervor. TSG Block hosted a large gathering in Saliskote, while Anjuman Sahib-e-Zam an Sankoo organized programs
at Jamia Masjid Sankoo and Imam bargah Kausar. Basij-e-Ruhanion, IKMT and many others set up water and tea stalls across Kargil, including Minji, TSG, Faroona, andSankoo, serving the public gen
erously.
The celebrations reinforcedthe message of Islamic unity, resistance against oppression, and devotion to Ahlul Bayt (A.S.), marking Eid-e-Ghadeer as a day of spiritual renewal and
global solidarity.
