AKSAD Backs Ladakh’s Four-Point Agenda in KDA-LAB Meeting
New Delhi, 26/05/2025 – The President of the All Kargil (Ladakh) Students’ Association Delhi (AKSAD) recently met with the co-chairmen of the Kargil Democratic Alliance (KDA) and the Leh Apex Body (LAB) at Ladakh Bhawan, New Delhi, to express the student community’s strong support for their unified demands. This meeting precedes critical discussions scheduled between the KDA, LAB, and the Ministry of Home Affairs. During the interaction, the AKSAD President unequivocally conveyed full support and cooperation from Ladakh’s Delhi-based students for the Four-Point Agenda, which is considered vital for safeguarding the constitutional rights of the people of Ladakh.
The core elements of the discussed Four-Point Agenda include the demand for statehood, inclusion under the Sixth Schedule of the Indian Constitution, the establishment of a Public Service Commission (PSC) for Ladakh, and the allocation of two parliamentary seats for the region. Beyond these primary demands, the discussions also encompassed the importance of implementing a mandatory Local Resident Certificate (LRC) with stringent domicile laws, advocating for a one-time age relaxation, and addressing the need for early recruitment opportunities within Ladakh.
AKSAD has firmly stated its solidarity with the ongoing efforts to secure constitutional rights, preserve the cultural heritage of Ladakh, ensure adequate public representation, and tackle the issue of unemployment. The student association has pledged its continued support and collaboration with the leadership of Ladakh in their future endeavors to achieve these goals.
