LBA Kargil Celebrates Annual “Tangpe-Chona” Ceremony
Hundreds Gather at Kargil for Spiritual Offerings and Prayers for Global Peace
Kargil, March 14, 2025 – In a remarkable expression of faith, tradition, and unity, the Ladakh Buddhist Association (LBA), Branch Kargil, organized the annual “Tangpe-Chona” celebration at Kargil, bringing together around 100 members of the Buddhist community for a day of spiritual reflection and collective prayer.
The event, held under the chairmanship of Gen Nawang Sherab, carried deep cultural and spiritual significance. Devotees gathered to perform the sacred “Riwo Sangchod” and “Tsoq” rituals—traditional Buddhist prayers and offerings dedicated to peace, harmony, and the well-being of all sentient beings.

Addressing the gathering, Gen Nawang Sherab encouraged wider participation in such spiritual gatherings and urged the community to actively uphold their cultural and religious values.
Tashi Phonchok, Vice President of LBA Branch Kargil, emphasized the importance of unity and peace, stating, such events reinforce their commitment to harmony and collective well-being. It is through these traditions that we keep our spiritual heritage alive and strengthen our community bonds, Phonchok stated.
