The Ladakh Taekwondo Association is proud to announce that Shahnaz Parveen has been selected to represent India at the World University Games in Germany. This marks a historic moment as she becomes the first female athlete from Ladakh to qualify for this prestigious event for the second time, highlighting her exceptional skill and determination.

Shahnaz, who hails from Sankoo, Kargil, is currently pursuing her post-graduation in B.P.Ed (1st year) at Maharishi Dayanand University (MDU), Rohtak, under the mentorship of Head Coach Dr. Ashok Kumar. Her journey reflects her commitment to excellence in both academics and sports.

Gulzar Hussain Munshi, President of the Ladakh Taekwondo Association, praised Shahnaz’s dedication and hard work, saying,
“Shahnaz Parveen’s achievement is a proud moment for Ladakh and the entire nation. Her passion and discipline in Taekwondo have made her a role model, especially for young girls in our region. She has proven that with determination and the right support, even talent from remote areas can shine on the global stage. We are confident she will make India and Ladakh proud once again.”

Munshi also expressed gratitude to Maharishi Dayanand University (MDU) and Head Coach Dr. Ashok Kumar for their continuous support in nurturing Shahnaz’s talent.
“We sincerely thank MDU Rohtak and Dr. Ashok Kumar for their role in guiding and mentoring Shahnaz. Their commitment to nurturing talent has been key to her success. Such institutions and coaches play a vital role in helping young athletes achieve their dreams,” he added.

Shahnaz has consistently set high standards in Ladakh’s sports scene. She was honored with the State Award in Sports (UT Ladakh 2023) and previously represented India at the World University Games in Chengdu, China. She also secured 8th place in the finals of the Group Women Under-30 category at the 8th Asian Taekwondo Poomsae Championship in Vietnam. Her achievements have not only raised her profile but have also inspired young athletes in Ladakh to aim high.
