LG attends meeting chaired by Union Minister YSS to discuss Viksit Bharat Youth Parliament & Yuva Connect initiatives

Leh, Feb 11, 2025: The Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd) virtually attended a meeting chaired by the Hon’ble Union Minister, Youth Affairs and Sports, Dr Mansukh Mandaviya to apprise the concerned State Ministers, Lt Governors and sports department officials of the course of action for the Viksit Bharat Youth Parliament and Viksit Bharat Yuva Connect initiatives.

It was informed in the meeting that the transformative initiative is aimed at engaging young minds in national discussions and policy deliberations while fostering leadership and civic participation inspired by the vision of Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi to empower youth voices and encourage their contributions towards achieving the goal of a Viskit Bharat (Developed India) by 2047.

Stating that the Viksit Bharat Youth Parliament and Viksit Bharat Yuva Connect initiatives would help in achieving the goal of a developed nation (Viskit Bharat) by 2047, the HLG assured that UT Administration of Ladakh would organise the programmes as directed by the Hon’ble Union Minister, YSS to engage youth from Ladakh. Mentioning that sports is a means to engage youth, the HLG asked assistance from the Hon’ble Union Minister in providing training, qualified coaches and establishing sports federations in UT Ladakh for the promotion of sports such as ice hockey and horse polo. The assistance from the Sports Minister, the HLG further stated, would benefit youth from Ladakh and also prove beneficial in engaging more youth from the region.

Earlier, a detailed presentation was given on the Viksit Bharat Youth Parliament comprising coordinated efforts at district, state and national levels for its successful execution along with a PPT on Viksit Bharat Ambassador-Yuva Connect Programme to facilitate direct engagement between India’s youth and top policymakers.

The Hon’ble Union Minister, YSS, Dr Mansukh Mandaviya solicited support from all states and union territories to make the programme successful and asked to host programmes under the initiatives by engaging maximum youth.

Secretary, YSS, Vikram Singh Malik, IAS; Secretary, School Education, Bhanu Prabha, IAS and Additional Secretary, Law & Justice, Shashi Kant Bhagat were present in the meeting.
