Requests for his intervention in sending team to 9^th Asian Winter Games to be held in China starting Feb 7

Leh, Jan 10, 2025: A delegation of Indian men’s ice hockey team comprising players from Ladakh led by Tsewang Gyaltsan called on the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd), at the Lieutenant Governor’s Secretariat. Advisor to the HLG, Dr Pawan Kotwal, IAS and Secretary, Youth Services and Sports, Vikram Singh Malik, IAS, were present in the meeting.

Tsewang Gyaltsan apprised the HLG of the decision of Ministry of Youth Services and Sports not to send the Indian men’s ice hockey team to the 9^th Asian Winter Games to be held from 7^th to 14^th February 2025 at Harbin, Heilongjiang in China. He requested the HLG’s intervention in sending the Indian men’s ice hockey team to the Asian Winter Games as they had been preparing for the said event for a long time.

After speaking to the Hon’ble Minister of Youth Services and Sports, Government of India, Dr Mansukh Mandaviya and requesting his intervention in sending the Indian men’s ice hockey team comprising mostly players from Ladakh who dabble in the sport at more than 11,000 ft, the HLG assured the players that all efforts would be made to send the Indian men’s ice hockey team for the Asian Winter Games so that Ladakhi youth would benefit from it.
