CAZRI-RRS Leh Distributes Animal Feed under Tribal Sub-Plan
Leh, 8 January 2025: The ICAR-Central Arid Zone Research Institute (CAZRI), Regional Research Station (RRS), Leh, successfully distributed animal feed to support local livestock farmers under the Tribal Sub-Plan (TSP) initiative, aiming to strengthen animal husbandry practices and enhance livelihoods in the cold desert region.
On 7 January 2025, 21 bags of animal feed, each weighing 50 kg, were distributed among 21 households in Hemis Chomoling village, with the feed handed over to Mr. Tanden Wangdan, Nambardar of the village, in the presence of local beneficiaries.
The distribution continued on 8 January 2025 in the Khardong village, where 24 bags of feed, each weighing 50 kg, were distributed to 24 households in Takmar Khardong village, Additionally, 32 bags of animal feed, each weighing 50 kg, were handed over to the villagers of Farka Khardong.

Mr. Tsering Phuntsog, the village representative of Khardong village and Mr. Tashi Namgail, village
representative of Farka Village and other beneficiaries were present during distribution programme.
This initiative, as part of CAZRI-RRS Leh’s ongoing efforts to promote sustainable agriculture and animal husbandry in the cold-arid region, is expected to improve livestock health and productivity, directly benefiting tribal communities in these remote areas.
Dr. Maheshwar Singh Kanwar, Head of CAZRI-RRS, Leh, reiterated the institute’s commitment to supporting local farmers through need-based interventions under government schemes, while beneficiaries expressed their gratitude for this timely support during the harsh winter season.
Dr. Changchuk Lamo, Dr. AR Chichaghare, Mrs. Stanzin Landol, Mr. Rigzin Dorje, Mr. Ankesh Kumar and Mr. Rajendra Meena were also present during the events.
