Kargil, July 12, 2024: Chairman/CEC, LAHDC, Kargil, Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon, today chaired a meeting to discuss the implementation of Swadesh Darshan 2.0. 

During the meeting, the Detailed Project Report (DPR) submitted under the program was reviewed. The CEC was briefed on Package 1 and Package 2, which include plans for the Sangam Viewpoint, a Glass Bridge, and an updated site plan for the Line of Control (LoC) Viewpoint.

A major focus of the discussions was the scope of Linkipal Ski Slope. The CEC emphasised the need to promote winter tourism activities to establish Kargil as a premier winter tourist destination.

Further, the CEC encouraged exploring more destinations in Suru Valley, such as the 200-year-old Mosque, the Hotspring of Shargole, and Ghontapsa near Thuina village, known for attracting visitors from various countries for activities like rock climbing, rafting etc.

The CEC and Deputy Commissioner Kargil, Shrikant Suse directed that the DPR be implemented as planned and suggested including a large flag and selfie point at the LoC viewpoint as symbols of patriotism.
