Vol Desk, Feb. 03: Kargil witnesses a standstill in solidarity with the Kargil Democratic Alliance (KDA) and Leh Apex Body (LAB) calls for “Kargil Bandh” and “Leh Chalo Andolan” demanding the implementation of Ladakh’s 4-point agenda, encompassing the 6th Schedule, Statehood, Land, and job security and separate Lok Sabha Seat in Parliament for Kargil and Leh.

In a unified effort, the Sub-Divisions including Sankoo, Drass, Shakar Chiktan, and Zanskar also have observed a complete shutdown to support the KDA and Apex Body’s call.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Kargil took a protest rally in support of the Apex Body and KDA. The rally was commenced from Fatima Chowk and culminated at Lal Chowk, Kargil where the AAP leaders addressed the demonstrators and appealed the Center Government to fulfill the key demands of Ladakh.

The calls were announced after the ladakhi leaders also known as the High-Powered Committee returned disappointed from the last meeting with Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) in Delhi held on December 04, 2023.

The Apex Body and KDA have submitted a comprehensive 27-page draft to the MHA. Meanwhile a day ahead of the Leh Chalo Andolan and Kargil Bandh the MHA has called the Ladakhi leaders for another meeting to be held on February 19, 2024.
