Kargil Congress Express Resentment over Renaming of Govt Medical Centers
VoL Desk, Jan. 25: The District Congress Committee Kargil in a letter to the Chairman/Chief Executive Councilor, Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC) Kargil, has expressed strong resentment against the Renaming of Government Medical Aid Centers/Health and Wellness Centers as “Ayushman Arogya Mandir”.
“I am writing to express my deep concern and disappointment regarding the recent decision by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, to rename the Government Medical Aid Centers/Health and Wellness Centers as “Ayushman Arogya Mandir”, stated the letter from DCC President Nasir Hussain Munshi, dated January 24, 2024.
While it is understood that the government aims to promote health and wellness among the citizens through this initiative, the choice of the name has triggered widespread resentment among the general public of Ladakh. It is our firm belief that such a decision is not only unfortunate but also tantamount to playing with the sentiments of the people of Ladakh.

Ladakh, as an integral part of India, takes pride in its diverse and inclusive culture. The decision to name the health centers on the basis of a particular religion is not only unconstitutional but also goes against the principles of secularism that our great nation stands for. “In light of the widespread resentment and the constitutional concerns raised by the general public of Ladakh, I kindly request you to convey our concerns to the relevant authorities and urge them to reconsider the decision to rename the health centers. we believe that a more inclusive and neutral name can be chosen that reflects the true spirit of Ladakh and ensures the well-being of all its ctizens.”
“We trust that you will represent the sentiments of the people of Ladakh in the most appropriate manner”, Nasir Munshi stated.
