VoL Desk, October 27, 2023 – In a significant development, the Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC, Kargil Dr Mohammad Jaffar Akhoon has issued Order No. 107 of 2023, detailing the allocation of responsibilities within the Executive Council.

Under the provisions of Sections 29 and 33(2) of the LAHDC Act 1995, the Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor (CEC) of Lahdc Kargil has delineated specific portfolios to facilitate the efficient functioning of the Executive Council.

Executive Councillor Kacho Mohammad Feroz has been entrusted with the crucial portfolios of Irrigation and Flood Control Division, Public Health Engineering Division, Tourism, Kargil Development Authority, Zanskar Development Authority, Urban Development, Revenue, Command Area Development, and Fisheries.

Executive Councillor Er. Punchok Tashi will oversee Rural Development, Panchayati Raj, Cooperative, Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Forest & Wildlife, and Information and Public Relations Departments.

Executive Councillor Aga Syeed Mujtaba Musavi has been assigned the responsibilities of Social Welfare, Agriculture, Animal and Sheep Husbandry, and Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS).

Executive Councillor Zakir Hussain will manage the Power Development Department, Education, Higher Education, Industries and Commerce, Mechanical Engineering Division, Horticulture, Handloom, and Handicraft.

The Chairman/Chief Executive Councillor will supervise all other matters and departments within the Council’s jurisdiction. This includes general administration, planning and non-planning budgets, inter-district coordination, and other departments such as R&B, Health, Youth Services and Sports, Soil Conservation, and Disaster Management.

This strategic reallocation of responsibilities aims to enhance efficiency, promote coordination, and ensure seamless governance within the LAHDC Kargil.
