Administrative Secretary(Tourism) takes stock of status of developmental works
Kargil, May 28: Administrative Secretary, Tourism and Culture, Ladakh, Kacho Mehboob Ali Khan took stock of the status of developmental works of Tourism Department at Kargil, Sodh area here on Saturday.
The Administrative Secretary inspected the under repair/upgradation Snow Ski Base Station building at Kurbathang near airport. The concerned officer from Kargil Development Authority (KDA) informed the Secretary that the repair/renovation work of the building is almost complete and electrification and water supply connection works are pending.
The Secretary, Tourism emphasized on making the Institute of Skiing & Mountaineering branch operational at the earliest and took note of fund allocation for laying electric line & water supply to the building.

At the construction site of Director Tourism’s residence, Eco-log Huts being constructed under Swadesh Darshan 1 scheme through the National Buildings Construction Corporation (NBCC) and the astro-telescope for astro-tourism promotion, the Secretary directed the Executive Engineer, KDA & NBCC respectively to speed up the pace of construction work and complete the projects within this financial year. He directed both the Executive Engineers to follow all mandatory norms related to making these public buildings handicapped friendly and further directed to ensure quality & quantity as per approved DPRs.
Earlier Secretary (Tourism) inspected the sites of Khandori-Khar & Pasar-Khar in Sodh area for promoting & developing these spots as a half day trekking/adventure trail and at the same time preserving the remains of these heritage sites through provision of access paths and development of basic amenities for tourists.
Executive Engineer, KDA, Tsering Motup; Executive Engineer, NBCC, Bilal Ahmad; OSD/Under Secretary to Administrative Secretary Muhammad Ali Tak, Assistant Tourist Officer, Ghulam Rasool Lal besides other concerned officers and engineers of KDA accompanied the Secretary during the tour.
