LBA delegation meets LG to request promotion of Ladakhi language and culture
VoL Desk, March 28: The Hon’ble Lt. Governor Brig (Dr.) BD Mishra of Ladakh recently met with a delegation led by Sh. Thupstan Chhewang, President of the Ladakh Buddhist Association, accompanied by the Presidents and members of the Ladakh Gonpa Association, LBA Youth Wing and the LBA Women Wing at Raj Niwas.
The delegation raised concerns regarding the promotion of Ladakhi culture, including language, script, architecture, art, and other related aspects.
During the meeting, the Lt. Governor conveyed his vision to create an environment that fosters all the attributes that define ‘Ladakh’ and its identity. Additionally, the delegation requested the appointment of sufficient Bhoti teachers across primary schools of Ladakh and the making of Ladakh Resident Certificate necessary for employment in Government offices of the Union Territory.

In response, LG Ladakh assured the delegation that their requests will be looked into, and appropriate actions will be taken. This meeting highlights the importance of preserving and promoting the unique culture and identity of Ladakh.

But we the purgies speak and write purig lungage. We are the majority population in ladakh.The Bhoti alphabet does not fulfill the phonetics of purigi .Only the Urdu alphabet fufills the same.We suport Urdu alphabet.
