Research Orientation Workshop for Post Graduation Students concludes at Arts Faculty, University of Delhi
New Delhi, 15 February, 2026/ Vol News Desk/ The All Kargil (Ladakh) Students’ Association Delhi (AKSAD) successfully organized a session for postgraduate students titled “Research Orientation Workshop: From Masters to PhD” on February 14, 2026, at the Arts Faculty, University of Delhi. The workshop was initiated by Mohammad Ibrahim, President of AKSAD, who provided a brief overview of the workshop objectives and introduced the guest scholars.
The panel of discussants included Syed Mohammad from the Faculty of Law, Roksana Parveen from the Delhi School of Economics, Archo Zulikhatun and Anwar Hussain from the Central Institute of Education and Mohammad Ali from the Department of Philosophy. The scholars provided a detailed summary regarding the methods and purpose of research. They highlighted key methodologies including historical, critical, philosophical, phonological, and experimental approaches. The discussion emphasized how thorough research can challenge existing worldviews and stressed that the postgraduate level is the foundational stage for beginning a research journey.
A significant portion of the session focused on data collection strategies. The scholars explained the distinctions between primary data, gathered directly through firsthand sources, and secondary data, which involves the analysis of existing records. The scholars provided insightful tips for students to start productive and high quality proposals. The discussion revolved around the necessary steps to articulate a well-structured proposal by emphasizing consistent reading and literature review.
The panel also noted that individual curiosity and will are vital factors in the research process. Addressing modern academic challenges, the scholars discussed the use of AI in writing research works. They encouraged students to write independently and avoid relying on AI tools to ensure the quality and integrity of their research. Additionally, they shared information regarding various scholarships and fellowships such as UGC NET JRF and NFST.
The workshop saw active engagement from approximately 15 students representing different colleges and universities. Participants raised various queries regarding the research process and the requirements for PhD admissions.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by the President of the association, who expressed gratitude to both the scholars and the students for their time and participation.
