IKMT Observe Ashura-e-Hussaini with Solemnity and Grandeur
Kargil, 6th July 2025: Thousands of devotees, lovers of Prophet Mohammad (pbuh), and followers of Ahl-ul-Bait commemorated the martyrdom of Imam Hussain (a.s.) and his companions on the occasion of Ashura-e-Hussain, the 10th of Muharram-ul-Haram 1447 Hijri (2025), under the banner of the Imam Khomeini Memorial Trust, Kargil.
The day was marked by large processions, mourning gatherings, and impassioned tributes to the martyrs of Karbala, reinforcing the timeless message of justice, resistance, and sacrifice.
Mourning processions were held at various villages and block levels, which later converged into the main procession at Zainabia Chowk and Jamia Masjid, Kargil. The procession traversed significant landmarks, including Lal Chowk, Khomeini Chowk, Fatima Chowk, and Isna Asharia Chowk, before culminating at Hussaini Park, Kargil.
Participants carried banners, placards, and portraits of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Syed Ali Hussaini Khamenei, revered martyrs, and symbols of the Karbala tragedy. Slogans condemning oppression, particularly against the injustices faced by the people of Palestine and Yemen, resonated throughout the procession.

Mourners expressed solidarity with the oppressed worldwide, reiterating Imam Hussain’s (a.s.) stand against tyranny.
The mourners paid homage to Imam Hussain (a.s.) and his 72 companions by beating their chests (matam) and reciting elegies (nauhas). The atmosphere was charged with emotion as participants reflected on the sacrifices made in the desert of Karbala, which continue to inspire movements for justice and freedom across the world.
The concluding speech was delivered by Hojjat-ul-Islam Sheikh Mohammad Sadiq Rajai, Chairman of the Imam Khomeini Memorial Trust, Kargil. He elaborated on the universal message of Karbala, emphasizing the values of truth, justice, and resistance against oppression.
The sacrifice of Imam Hussain (a.s.) is not just a historical event but a living movement that teaches us to stand against injustice in all forms, he added. He also highlighted the contributions of the people of Kargil in nation-building and safeguarding the country’s borders, reaffirming their commitment to peace and justice.
Hojjat-ul-Islam Sheikh Khadim Sadiqi led the recitation of Ziyarat-e-Ashura, a sacred tribute to the martyrs of Karbala, which moved the gathering.
Hojjat-ul-Islam Sheikh Mohammad Hasnain Rizwani, Vice-Chairman of the Imam Khomeini Memorial Trust, Kargil, extended heartfelt gratitude to all stakeholders, including the District Administration, Ladakh Police, Health Department, Information Department, Municipal Committee, various departments, and various sub-organizations of the Trust for their unwavering support in ensuring a peaceful and well-organized observance of Ashura.
The observance of Ashura-e-Hussain in Kargil once again demonstrated the deep spiritual and ideological connection of the people with the legacy of Imam Hussain (a.s.). The event not only served as a remembrance of the tragedy of Karbala but also as a reaffirmation of the community’s resolve to uphold the principles of justice, humanity, and resistance against oppression.
