Ladakhi Youth Benefit from ALSWAC’s Career Guidance Initiative
Kargil, Ladakh | 30/06/2025— The All Ladakh Students Welfare Association, Chandigarh (ALSWAC), a student body committed to the upliftment and empowerment of Ladakhi youth, successfully concluded its first-ever series of counselling and career guidance sessions for higher secondary school students in Kargil district. The sessions, held between 19th June and 29th June 2025, aimed to provide meaningful academic and career-related guidance to students in remote villages, helping them take confident steps towards higher education and professional growth.
Led by the President of ALSWAC, with the active support of research scholars and executive members, the sessions were a small but important beginning in our effort to bridge educational gaps in these areas.
We express our sincere thanks to the Hon’ble MP Ladakh, the Chief Executive Councillor LAHDC Kargil, the Director School Education, Ladakh, the Chief Education Officer, Kargil, the school principals, and our entire team for their valuable support and cooperation, which made this initiative possible.
This year, the sessions could only be conducted in schools of Kargil district. We could not cover schools in Leh district as we didn’t get required permission from the Chief Education Officer, Leh, and principals of various higher schools whom we approaced. Also, being our first attempt, we were short on time and experience, and couldn’t reach some of the far-flung areas we had hoped to cover.
We plan to organise these sessions again next year with better planning so that students from both Kargil and Leh districts benefit from this initiative.
The schools we visited during this program included:
