Pipeline Burst interrupts Water Supply at Kaksar
VoL Desk, Jan. 05: Due to a burst of a water supply pipeline in chilling cold weather water supply has been interrupted at the border village of Kaksar that disturbed the normal lifestyle of around a hundred households.
The pipeline was busted on Wednesday as a result the villagers faced a shortage of drinking and daily use water. In the afternoon the Army Jawans provided water with tankers a video of which went viral on social media.
In addition, local volunteers having load career vehicles also supplied water to the villagers from a pipe near the river. The Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE), PHE Department Kargil with his team reached the village on Thursday morning and tried to restore the water supply.

On Friday morning Ahmad Qadri from the village informed us that the water has restored till midway and had not reached yet the village. However, restoration work is in progress.
Speaking to Voice of Ladakh, a villager named Ahmed Qadri said that the existing pipeline was first installed in 1974 after which no maintenance was made due to which it busted and interrupted the water supply.
He further said that the existing pipeline does not reach households but only to three mohallas from where the villagers carry water to houses in water cans.
Speaking about Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) works, a Punch in the village said that the water tapes have been installed at every household, however, work at the Service Reservoir is pending due to which water is not charged.
