Leh/ Jan 5: Secretary, Youth Services and Sports, UT Ladakh, Ravinder Kumar, convened a meeting regarding the first-ever Winter Sports Festival Zanskar 2021, at the Secretariat today.

The meeting was also attended by Deputy Commissioner Leh, Sachin Kumar Vaishya Leh; Stanzin Lakpa Councillor LAHDC Kargil; Director Tourism Ladakh, Kunzes Angmo; Tsering Tashi, District Youth Services and Sports Officer, Leh; Dr Thupstan Norboo, Cultural Officer; Manesh Pal Saini, Assistant Commandant, ITBP; Sidharth, Commandant, ITBP, and R Verma, DIG, ITBP, Stanzin Rinchen, Manager, Ladakh Scouts and representative of Information Department Leh.

Keeping in view meetings of Member of Parliament Ladakh, Jamyang Tsering Namgyal with Sports Minister, Kiren Rijiju, and Lieutenant Governor UT Ladakh, RK Mathur, Secretary Sports Ravinder shared that a sports event would be conducted at Zanskar for 15 days from January 15 to January 30, 2021.

The objective of the event is to highlight and promote Zanskar as a tourist destination. Secretary Sports Ravinder Kumar shared that the attractions of the Winter Sports Festival Zanskar 2021 would be Chadar trek, meditation and yoga on snow, ice hockey, snow skiing, snow scooter and hiking, snow sculpting, ice climbing, traditional and modern archery, local food festival, and cultural programme.

Archery Associations of Ladakh, Indian Mountaineering Foundation (IMF), and other such organisations would be roped in for the smooth conduct of the 1^st Winter Sports Festival Zanskar 2021.

Secretary Sports Ravinder Kumar directed the concerned departments to work in coordination with each other for the successful conduct of the event.
