Leh, Oct 16: Sheep Husbandry Department, Leh inaugurated Feed Pelleting Unit under Prime Minister’s Development Package (PMDP), Ministry of Textiles, GoI on October 14 at Pashmina Goat Farm, Upshi in presence of Executive Councillor, Animal/Sheep Husbandry, Tashi Namgail Yakzee.

Councillor Nyoma, Tashi Spalzang; Councillor Korzok, Karma Namdak; District Sheep Husbandry Officer, Leh, Dr Tundup Namgail; Deputy Director, Dr Tsewang Morup; Deputy Registrar Cooperatives, Leh, Dr Mohd Abbas and officers of the concerned department were also present at the occasion.

District Sheep Husbandry Officer, Leh briefed about the paramount role and functioning aspects of feed pelleting unit as a feed supplement to the livestock in order to combat the winter nutritional crisis.

The feed pellet unit has 2 tonnes per hour efficiency and local agriculture by-products could be utilised as raw materials for the final pellet product.
