AKTTA, Tourism Department Kargil mark National Tourism Day 2022
Kargil, January 25, 2022: All Kargil Travel Trade Association (AKTTA) took out on a car rally to mark the National Tourism Day 2022 here in Kargil today. The Car Rally was flagged off by the Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC, Kargil Feroz Ahmad Khan from Council Secretariat. The rally culminated at Linkipal Snow Ski Slope Kurbathang, Kargil.
Due to COVID restrictions, the association could not assemble people to mark the day, thus innovated a unique way in shape of car rally aimed to promote Kargil as a tourist destination in the country. On the other hand, Tourism Department illuminated tourism offices and accommodation units.
This program was also attended by the Executive Councilor Tourism, officials of the Tourism Department, President AKTTA Mohd Ali Rangyul, General Secretary AKTTA Zaheer Bagh, former Vice President AKTTA Nasir Hussain Munshi among other members of the association joined the rally while following Covid Appropriate Behaviours (CAB).

On the occasion, President AKTTA Mohd Ali Rangyul, said that the COVID pandemic has proved a critical time for every one especially to the Tourism sector which experienced a steep decline.
He informed that there are lots of places to explore in our own country. This rally is aimed to explore such an unexplored region called Kargil under the theme “dekho apna desh”.
General Secretary AKTTA Zaheer Bagh said that there are lots of potential in Kargil district for tourism in summer as well as winter. Ice skating, snow ski, culture, landscape among many others are the unique features of Kargil that are enough to thrill the tourists. He welcomed tourists from across the world to explore Kargil, Ladakh.
Former Vice President AKTTA Nasir Hussain Munshi expressed that they want to celebrate National Tourism Day at a major level but due to covid situation had to manage with a car rally. He wished and prayed for ease end of this pandemic so that lots of tourists could visit Kargil, Ladakh.
The day is celebrated in the country to create awareness among the masses about growth prospects of the tourism sector and how it impacts India’s economic development.
A similar program was also celebrated at Drass, the second coldest inhabited place, with great enthusiasm and zeal despite the intense cold in the subdivision.
The program was attended by Karate Federation members of Horse Polo Association, officials and tourism stakeholders.
Later in the evening, a function in celebration of the National Tourism Day was held at the Tourist Office Kargil where Assistant Director Tourism, officials of the Tourism Department and executive members of AKTTA participated.
On the occasion, the Tourism Department Kargil displayed banners and hoardings at tourist places in the district and illuminated tourism offices and accommodation units in the district.
