Sheikh Nazir flay administration over “unnecessary Covid restrictions”

KARGIL, JANUARY 05, 2022: President Anjuman Jamiat Ulema Isna Ashriya Kargil (AJUIAK), Sheikh Nazir Mehdi Mohammadi in a press conference today flayed the UT Administration for imposing unnecessary restrictions without having a concerning threat of COVID-19.

“We have always supported the Administration in the Covid pandemic which is deadly and harmful to life. The public also cooperated with the administration to cope up with the COVID pandemic that gave fruitful results”, said Sheikh Nazir.

Sheikh Nazir further said that during the lockdown since 2020 the economy and education both have been affected badly in Ladakh. The organisation has always supported all the rational decisions of the administration; “but we will never support or follow any irrational and unnecessary decisions”, Sheikh Nazir added.

Now, to our surprise, we see that the administration has banned the tuition centres for our children without any considerable number of Covid cases in the district. While schools in other cities outside Ladakh are open. Even the CEC is on tour to schools outside Ladakh that are open.

He further said that the Losar festival was also celebrated widely without restrictions and its videos are available on the internet. But the Administration has banned only the schools and educational institutions on the pretext of the Covid pandemic.

He supposed that the only entry to covid cases is Leh airport while the Zojila is already closed. Thus, there should be restrictions on the entry points instead of haunting the people. He further maintained that there is no major threat of Covid and only a few people are at home Quarantine. Thus, there is no logic to ban educational institutions.

“Yesterday, in a meeting with the admin we have decided that we will conduct congregations related to Ayame Fatimiyah and processing also will be held on 7th with proper Covid protocols. Today in a meeting with the administration, some organisations seem frustrated; they on a letter pad advocated for procession but in front of the Administration they said the opposite.

“We have nothing to do with their decision. I want to clear that we will conduct the said procession.

Sheikh Nazir further flayed the administration over impose of night Curfew in Kargil which is “illogical”. “Who would get out at 9 o’clock at night”, asked Sheikh Nazir.

“There are political rallies taking place in other parts of the country, but only Ladakh is facing unnecessary restrictions.” He further appealed to never impose illogical decisions. He assured to cooperate the administration in all things that are logical and in the public interest.

He further said that the youth are indulging in bad habits like inhaling drugs due to the long time distance from schooling. He further urged the public representatives to convey the administration on public issues instead of touring outside the region.
