BZB-IKMT appreciates Ladakh Admin, others over progress in farming sector
KARGIL, JANUARY 01, 2022: Baseej-e-Zaraat-wa-Baghbani (BZB), agriculture wing of Imam Khomeini Memorial Trust (IKMT) Kargil, conveyed sincere thanks and gratitude on the eve of departing 2021 to all Officers, Official of Union Territory of Ladakh, collaborating organizations, and members of the organization for their contribution during the year in the enhancement of farming activities in Ladakh, particularly in Kargil district.
The farming organization in a meeting on Friday thanked the LG Ladakh R K Mathur for lifting the long-pending quarantine ban from the export of Ladakh Fruits like Apricot and Apple to outside Ladakh.
The organization also expressed gratitude to the Chairman/ Chief Executive Councilor, LAHDC, Kargil for planning special focuses on the promotion of Kargil’s farming sector towards promotion and value addition measures through the latest technologies via concerned Departments.

The organization further expressed gratitude to Commissioner Secretary/ Dev Commissioner, Administrative Secretary Agriculture & Horticulture, Deputy Commissioner/CEO Kargil, Director, Commerce, and Industries for facility management by inviting National reputed Market promoters/ Investors upon Ladakh farming produces.
The BZB mentioned the efforts of KVK Kargil for resource conservation technology i.e cultivation of french beans on Alfa-Alfa root and transfer of this technology to farmers of Kargil district thus solving the organic fertilizer need among Farmers.
The organization maintained that the Horticulture Department Kargil ensured facility provision of exportation of Kargil Apricot and Apple outside Kargil besides providing of latest devices for farmers conveniences with assistance from Krishek Agritech Pvt ltd.
The Agriculture Department Kargil also ensured facility provision of the latest High tech greenhouses thus minimising green vegetable shortage during the winter season.
In addition, the Kargil Renewable Energy Development Agency (KREDA) ensured ease to farmers with the success of the solar water lifting project at Latoo village which becomes an exemplary model for other drought regions of District Kargil.
The Cooperative Department Kargil played a vital role with procurement of Machinery equipment for processing Farmer’s produces thus to preserve via Canning/ Bottling/ Packaging and value addition.
The Forest Department Kargil achieved a milestone with the extraordinary research upon the Germination of the Juniper plant from its seed, which the organization sees as a welcoming initiative under the able guidance of ex Divisional Forest Officer Mr. Sajid Sultan. This innovative task shall benefit Ladakh farmers to preserve this endangering plant from its decay.
The Baseej-e-Zaraat-wa-Baghbani on its part also achieved various milestones in the year that are enumerated as under. During the year, the organization experienced a successful liaising and approach with Officers, Investors, Promoters, Trainers, and Donners, etc. for farmer’s related issues.
BZB introduced various unexplored crops to farmers and their economic potential through experts via physical and video conferencing meet.
It also established a research farm on Floral farming, Apple rootstock trail, High-Density Apple orchards, Herbal plant and Herbal herbarium, Hydroponic growing, Grafting of quality fruits etc.
The organization also installed micro-irrigation technology at the research center of BZB by its co consultancies that is the Green Initiative with the aim to further exploration in villages of Kargil.
The BZB coordinated with traders in exporting Kargil Halman, Karkit Chho Apple and Sea buckthorn Berry pulp etc. in the National/ international markets.
The organization further arranged awareness cum demonstration camps for progressive farmers in regards to Mushroom production, Pickle making, Sea buckthorn berry collection techniques, benefits of Mulching technology, uses and benefits of indigenous herbal plants to Amchis of Kargil etc.
In this whole process, the General Members of BZB provided Physical and Financial supports when and wherever required in the task of carrying on BZB programs.
The BZB expressed gratitude to the Mutahhary Education Society (MES) for the initial concept and support in the formation of Bassej e Zaraat wa Baghbani. The later facilitated the new organization by providing land for research purposes at Mutahery campus High Department and other assets like Machinery, equipment, water tanks, water channels etc.
Various other organizations viz Council Secretariat/ SKUAST Kargil/Kashmir/ KREDA Kargil/GB Panth, AYUSH, Tropicallist Trust, Invest India, Directorate of I&C also helped in various ways.
