Sheep Husbandry Department Kargil organizes training program on KCC

KARGIL, DECEMBER 7, 2021: As part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, Department of Sheep Husbandry Kargil today organized a one-day training program on Kissan Credit Card (KCC) scheme .

Councilor Town Haji Muhammad Abbas, was the chief guest on the occasion. Sheep Husbandry Officer Kargil Dr. Iftikhar Hussain, Chief Animal Husbandry Officer Kargil Dr. Ismail, Assistant Commissioner Labour Department Raziya Khatoon, Block Veterinary Officer Kargil Dr. Zakir Hussain, Officer Incharge Pashmina Goat Farm Khangral Dr. Niyaz, representatives of different banks besides other concern officials, panches and sarpanches from various villages were also present.

While talking about aims and objectives of the KCC scheme, District Sheep Husbandry Officer Dr. Iftikhar Hussain said it is a Nationwide AHDF KCC campaign launched for providing Kisan Credit Card facility to all eligible Animal Husbandry,Dairy and Fishery Farmers, under this Campaign, the objective is to cover all eligible farmers who are involved in various Animal Husbandry activities like rearing of bovines, goat, poultry and other allied activities. The Campaign will attempt to saturate all eligible dairy farmers associated with milk unions/MPCs who have not yet been covered in the earlier campaign.

He further informed that earlier the facility of Kisan Credit Card was available only to crop cultivators. But it has been expanded to Fisheries , animal and sheep Husbandry sectors as well.

On the occasion, Chief Animal Husbandry Officer Dr. Ismail while interacting with the participants explained in detail the reasons behind the rejection of cases that were submitted by the department to different banks .

Block Veterinary Officer Dr. Nazir Hussain briefed the participants about the Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) that affects the livestock across Ladakh and suggested vaccination for it.

While explaining the importance and needs of FMD vaccination, he urged sarpanches to ensure booster doses of vaccination for livestock of their area.

Dr Zakir hussain shared the details about the sanctioned, dispersed, rejected and pending cases in various banks.

While highlighting the objectives of KCC, he said that the scheme is aimed at providing adequate and timely credit support from the banking system under a single window with a simplified procedure to the farmers for their cultivation and other needs including to meet the short term credit requirements.

Councilor Town Haji Muhammad Abbas speaking on the occasion thanked the Sheep Husbandry Department for organizing the training program meant for the welfare of farmers.

He said that with the help of this training program, breeders will be awared that the KCC scheme is not confined to the Department of Agriculture but it has been now extended to Sheep Husbandry, Animal Husbandry and Fisheries Department as well.

The Councilor appealed sarpanches and panches to spread awareness about the KCC scheme among the general public in their respective areas so that youth will benifit from these schemes ,as it will create employment opportunities for the unemployed youth of kargil

Representatives of different banks informed participants about the terms and conditions of availing the scheme and also addressed the issues related to bank formalities.

On the occasion, two sanctioned cases by J&K Cooperative Bank were handover to the breeders by the chief guest.

Later Dr Zakir hussain thanked the chief guest, officers, participants and media representatives for attending the event and making the program a successful one.
