Kargil, Sept 21/ VOL News Desk/ The Bar Association Kargil, in its General Body meeting held on Monday, unanimously resolved to continue the suspension of judicial work up to and including September 24, 2026, in support of its demand for regular sittings of the High Court Bench at Kargil along with Leh.

The Association said it has already submitted representations to the Chief Justice of the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh and the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh. However, it stated that no substantial progress or response has been communicated so far.

The Association has therefore decided to continue its peaceful protest while awaiting appropriate action from the competent authorities.

During the suspension period, no member of the Bar Association Kargil will appear before any court within or outside District Kargil, including the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh. No notarial work will also be undertaken by any member of the Bar.

The Association expressed regret for the inconvenience caused to litigants and the general public, stating that the movement is being pursued in the larger public interest of the people of Kargil and to ensure meaningful access to justice through regular sittings of the High Court Bench at Kargil.

The Association expressed hope that the Chief Justice and the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh would take appropriate and early action on the representations submitted.
