Holy Relics of Tathāgata Buddha Welcomed in Ladakh: MP Mohmad Haneefa Jan Condemns Deliberate Exclusion by Administration

Ladakh, April 29, 2026/ VOL News Desk/ The Union Territory of Ladakh witnessed a profoundly sacred and historic moment as the Holy Relics of Tathāgata Buddha arrived, evoking deep spiritual joy, devotion, and pride among the people of the region.

Mohmad Haneefa Jan, the sitting Member of Parliament from Ladakh (Independent), expressed his heartfelt sentiments on the occasion. In a statement, the MP from Kargil described himself as “deeply honoured and blessed” to welcome the sacred relics, noting that this momentous event has brought immense happiness and spiritual pride visible in every corner of Ladakh.

However, the joyous occasion was significantly marred by serious allegations of administrative lapse and deliberate sidelining. MP Mohmad Haneefa Jan strongly condemned the gross negligence and intentional exclusion by the concerned department and the UT Administration. Despite repeated efforts by his office over the last two days to ensure proper coordination, the MP claimed he was kept in the dark and was informed merely two hours before the official reception.

Describing the incident as unacceptable, the Ladakh MP stated that this was not just an administrative failure but appeared to be a deliberate attempt to sideline the elected representative of the people from a historic and sacred event of immense religious and cultural importance to Ladakh.

“Such actions raise serious concerns about the functioning and intent of the Administration,” said MP Haneefa Jan. He demanded that the concerned department and the UT Administration provide a clear explanation and fix accountability for this lapse, emphasising that the people of Ladakh deserve transparency and due respect for their elected representative.

The arrival of the Holy Relics — being brought for public exposition — is being hailed as a significant spiritual milestone for the Buddhist community and the entire region. While the sacred event continues to inspire devotion and unity, the reported exclusion of the Lok Sabha MP has sparked disappointment and highlighted the need for better coordination and inclusive protocol in matters of deep cultural and religious significance.

This incident has once again brought into focus the importance of respecting democratic mandates and ensuring seamless collaboration between elected representatives and the administration for events that touch the hearts of the people of Ladakh.
