VOL News Desk/ March 30, 2026: Akhone Mohammad Yousuf, Editor of Voice of Ladakh, noted author, and former General Secretary of the Imam Khomeini Memorial Trust (IKMT), Kargil, passed away at his residence in Kargil today. He was 75.

Akhone Yousuf had also served in the Department of Information and Public Relations and retired as a Photo Officer.

He was among the founding members of the Imam Khomeini Memorial Trust and served as its first General Secretary, holding the position for around 15 years.

In addition to his administrative and literary contributions, he authored a book titled “Tazkera-e-Purkistan.” In 2013, he founded the weekly newspaper Voice of Ladakh, which has since grown into one of the leading newspapers in the region.

He is survived by two sons and two daughters.
