The CEC also met Deputy Chief Minister Maharashtra Ek Nath Shinde and discussed various issues related to Kargil’s development.

EK Nath Shinde assured that a CT Scan Machine will be given to Sub District Hospital Drass and few ambulances will be given for Kargil District. The Deputy CM also assured of extending support to increase tourism in Drass.

Organised in the run-up to Kargil Vijay Diwas, the event combined fitness, patriotism, and remembrance against the backdrop of the very mountains that witnessed the heroism of the Kargil War.

Organised by the Indian Army and Sarhad Pune, the Shauryathon saw participation in various race categories — 5km, 10km, and 21km attracting youth, school students, armed forces personnel, and civilians.

Participants ran through the rugged terrain of Drass, symbolically tracing the journey of India’s brave soldiers during the Kargil conflict of 1999.

The Shauryathon also marked the beginning of a series of commemorative events leading up to Kargil Vijay Diwas on July 26, which honours India’s victory and the sacrifices made during the 1999 Kargil War.
