KVK Kargil-1 Empowers Women with Skill Training
The Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Kargil-1, under the aegis of SKUAST-Kashmir, proudly hosted a Certificate Distribution Ceremony at its Kurbathang campus on 21st May 2025. The event marked the successful completion of skill development training in tailoring and embroidery for the year 2024–25, aimed at empowering women through vocational education.
A total of 40 women participants—20 each in tailoring and embroidery—received comprehensive training to enhance their self-employment opportunities and economic resilience.
The ceremony was graced by Hon’ble Councillor of Choskore, Mr. Nasir Hussain Munshi, as Chief Guest, and District Agriculture Officer, Ms. Raziya Banoo, as Guest of Honour.
Dr. Nazir Hussain, Scientist at KVK, warmly welcomed the guests and audience, offering an overview of the training programs and their significance. Dr. Nasreen Fatima Kacho, Senior Scientist and Head of KVK Kargil, presented a detailed report on the program’s implementation and impact. She expressed her gratitude to all stakeholders, particularly the Chief Guest, for their unwavering support.
A key highlight of the ceremony was the recognition of a differently-abled woman participant with hearing and speech challenges who demonstrated remarkable dedication throughout the training. Dr. Kacho emphasized how this platform has been instrumental in fostering economic independence and self-reliance among women from diverse backgrounds.
In his address, the Chief Guest applauded KVK’s holistic approach, which extends beyond agriculture to include women-centric skill development initiatives. He praised the tailoring and embroidery training programs as praiseworthy efforts in empowering rural women and encouraged the trainees to continue enhancing their skills. The differently-abled participant was honored with a traditional khataq as a token of appreciation.
Certificates were distributed among all participants, acknowledging their successful completion of the training. The event concluded with a formal vote of thanks by Dr. Mansoor Hussain, Scientist at KVK.
