CEC Leh met Home Minister, discussed important issues pertaining to Ladakh

Leh, March 18: The Hon’ble Chairman/CEC, LAHDC Leh, Sh. Advocate Tashi Gyalson, in the presence of Sh. Tarun Chugh Ji, BJP National General Secretary / Prabhari Ladakh met with the Hon’ble Home Minister, Sh. Amit Shah Ji, to express deep gratitude for the Government of India’s unwavering support towards the welfare and development of the Union Territory of Ladakh.

During the meeting, the CEC,Leh thanked the Hon’ble Prime Minister and the Hon’ble Home Minister for resolving the pending issue of Daily Rated Workers (DRWs) by extending benefits under the consolidated guidelines of the (DoPT), fulfilling a long-standing demand of the people. This decision has provided relief to 1,900 DRWs. CEC, Leh also apprised Hon’ble Home Minister that a UT level committee has also been constituted to further look into the concerns of those who are not covered under the benefits.

He further expressed appreciation to the Hon’ble Prime Minister and the Hon’ble Home Minister for their special financial support over the past five years after Ladakh become a Union Territory, which has greatly facilitated the successful implementation of major development projects across Ladakh. Under the vibrant village program, he specifically thanked the Home Minister for providing special funding for initiatives such as promotion of border tourism, opening of new tourism venues like Demchok, Siachen Base, Martsemik la, Hanley Dark Sky Reserve, and his support for possibly opening of more tourism venues like Galwan Valley etc.

He also highlighted and extended gratitude to Hon’ble PM and Hon’ble HM for their support in developing sports infrastructure such as football stadium, International standard Ice Hockey Rink and indoor stadium etc, besides promotion of sports under the khelo india initiative and representing ladakh at national and international level. 

He also highlighted the significance of transformative projects approved under the leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Modi Ji, such as the Bakula Rinpoche Shardanjali Park, Zojila Tunnel, Shinkun La Tunnel, Kayla Tunnel, NPD Road, CDFD Road in Changthang, Leh to Nubra Road Widening, Changthang Road Widening, proposed Khaltse Leh Road Widening, the new Leh Airport Terminal Extension, the Kargil-Zanskar Two-Lane PS road with major bridges, and the pashmina de-hairing plant, Leh Bypass Road, Leh Bio Diversity Park, Turtuk Micro Hydel Project, Sanction of Medical, Engineering College and Central University at Ladakh, among several other key infrastructure projects in both the districts. 

He further emphasized that Ladakh has witnessed unprecedented progress, including the establishment of five new districts, which has further strengthened the region’s administrative and developmental framework, paving the way for sustainable growth and connectivity.

The Hon’ble CEC also discussed the budget curtailment and requested to enhance LAHDCs allocation, either in the Budget Estimates or the Revised Estimates (RE).

During the discussion, the Hon’ble CEC underscored the importance of continued support for such transformative projects and also raised the significance of initiating the Kailash Mansarovar pilgrimage, which holds immense cultural and spiritual importance for the region beside promotion of tourism and livelihood.

CEC, Leh also requested Hon’ble Home Minister for his support in getting approval of important tunnels like Fotu-La Tunnel, Taglangla Tunnel, Baralacha la Tunnel, Singay La Tunnel and Khardong La Tunnel.

Additionally, the Hon’ble CEC discussed other important issues pertaining to Ladakh and requested timely resolution of key concerns. 

The CEC Leh has further requested to inaugurate key projects that are completed in the new UT.

Reaffirming Ladakh’s progress under the visionary leadership of the Hon’ble Prime Minister and the Hon’ble Home Minister, the CEC, Leh expressed his commitment to further collaboration, ensuring continued growth and prosperity for the region.
