LG visits Chader Trek Registration Centre and Tourist Information Center Leh
Leh, 16 January, 2025: The Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor, Brigadier (Dr) B.D. Mishra (Retd), visited the Chader Trek Registration Centre in Leh today to review the ongoing Chader Trek and assess the facilities at the Tourist Information Centre.
Secretary Tourism, Sh. Vikram Singh Malik, IAS; Additional Deputy Commissioner Leh, Sh. Ghulam Mohd, JKAS; Assistant Director Tourism Leh, Ms. Padma Angmo, JKAS, and other tourism stakeholders and officials were present during the visit.
During his visit, the HLG expressed dissatisfaction with the non-functional bathrooms and toilets, and the lack of necessary amenities. He also noted the absence of visible boards and required information for tourists, which is essential for their convenience and safety.

The HLG inspected the emergency oxygen supplies, beds, and other related infrastructure provided for tourists. He expressed his dissatisfaction with the dismal conditions observed and directed the Assistant Director of Tourism, Leh, to ensure that all necessary infrastructure and tourist information are made available at the earliest.
In light of the situation, the HLG instructed that prefabricated toilet facilities be made available until the normal functioning of the existing toilets and bathrooms is restored.
The HLG emphasized the importance of maintaining high standards of service and infrastructure to enhance the experience and safety of tourists visiting the region.
