CEC Kargil inaugurates Zamindari Khul at Kaksar village

Kargil, Dec 24, 2024: Chairman/CEC, LAHDC, Kargil, Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon today inaugurated the much-awaited Zamindari Khul at Kaksar village.

The project, executed by Irrigation and Flood Control (I&FC) Department under the Languishing Scheme, was completed at a total cost of Rs 568.00 lakh.

The CEC was accompanied by Executive Councillor, Kacho Mohd Feroz; Executive Councillor, Er. Punchok Tashi; Deputy Commissioner/CEO, LAHDC, Kargil, Shrikant Balasaheb Suse; Councillor, Bhimbhet Abdul Wahid; Councillor Ranbirpora, Abdul Samad; Chief Engineer I&FC, PHE, Maqbool Hussain; Executive Engineer, R&B, Ghulam Mohd Hasan; engineers of I&FC Department, Sarpanch and a large number of villagers from Kaksar.

Speaking at the event, Dr. Akhoon congratulated the villagers on the fulfilment of their long-pending demand. He highlighted the importance of the project in boosting agricultural activities and expressed satisfaction at its completion despite numerous challenges.

“This Zamindari Khul is a dream project of LAHDC, Kargil. Its successful completion is a witness to the dedication and hard work of I&FC engineers, contractor and workers. I am immensely proud to see developmental projects like this coming to fruition, especially those that directly benefit the community,” the CEC said.

Dr. Akhoon also appreciated the patience and cooperation of the villagers in making this milestone possible. He assured that funds for the remaining 130 meters of the Khul would be allocated in the next budget session.

Additionally, the CEC emphasized Kaksar village’s potential for border tourism, stating that LAHDC, Kargil envisions transforming the village into a prominent tourist destination in the coming years. He also announced a kitchen set and wall to wall carpet for the community from his untied fund.

During the event, Councillor Bhimbhet, Abdul Wahid expressed gratitude to all stakeholders involved in the project’s completion. He also distributed a public address (PA) system, sofa set and computer with a printer for Kaksar Community Center from his constituency fund.

The villagers presented a memorandum of demands to the CEC, including the completion of Kaksar Khul, vacating the command area, making the BSNL tower functional, upgrading and maintaining Sharja Ground and initiating lift irrigation for water from Singo River. The CEC assured the villagers of a phased resolution of their concerns.
