SIDBI successfully organized training program on OHS in Leh
The Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI) has successfully organized the Training Programme on “Occupational Health & Safety(OHS)” under SIDBI-Systematic Cluster Intervention Programme (SIDBI-SCIP) on 23rd and 24th December 2024 in NLP Hall, Near Cheeta Chowk, Leh, as part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen the craft sector in the region. The Programme was attended by 80 plus participants representing Craft Cluster (wood carving).
The OHS Training Programme was organized to address the key issues faced by artisans related to health and safety and how to prevent those health hazards.
The keynote address and objectives of the Programme was presented by Mr. Milan Singh Grant Thornton Bharat. He briefed about the SIDBI-CIP initiatives in detail, its objectives and the interventions proposed.

The special address was given by Shri Jigmet Namgyal, Station Head, J&K Ladakh Financial Corporation, Leh. He appreciated the initiative of SIDBI-CIP. He briefed about the OHS Programme and its importance in the workplace and day-to-day life. He requested the participants to listen the training Programme very carefully to get the maximum benefits out of it.
Mr. Pani Kr. Naidu, Trainer- Occupational Health & Safety from International Health Emergency Learning Preparedness (IHELP) took the session and explained in a very detailed way.
In this session he introduced First Aid to artrisans, Assessment of the Situation, Basic Life Support, Wounds and Bleeding, Medical Emergencies through video presentation, shared some case studies and gave demonstration and hands-on practice.
The team from Grant Thornton Bharat includes Mr. Suneefar Jan Raina, and Mr. Milan Singh. Other Guests include Shri Sonam Rigzen, President-Wood Carving Carpentry Association, Shri Chamba Phunchok, Vice-President, Timber Trade Union Leh, and Mr. Jigmet Namgyal, Station Head-JKLFC, Leh.
SIDBI remains committed to its mission of empowering artisans in Leh and will continue working closely with the craft cluster to provide ongoing support in other planned interventions.
