LG interacts with students who will perform at Rashtrapati Bhawan on Ladakh Foundation Day
Leh, Sept 30, 2024: The Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd), interacted with 12 students from Leh and Kargil who will perform at Rashtrapati Bhawan on October 31, 2024, on the occasion of Foundation Day of UT Ladakh.
The HLG informed the students that they would perform in front of the Hon’ble President of India, Smt Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhawan on the occasion of Foundation Day of UT Ladakh on October 31, 2024. He stated that it is a big opportunity for the students as they are getting a chance to perform in front of the Hon’ble President of India. He asked the students to give their best performance as they are representing Ladakh.
The HLG asked Deputy Secretary, Cultural Academy, Shri Tsering Paljor to hold a 15-day camp for students at Leh in which the students would be taught to sing and play instruments. He stated that the performance, depicting the King and Queen along with the Royal Court of Ladakh, should be around 20-30 minutes long. He highlighted the need to prepare a script for the Act in the next one week so that the final script could be prepared based on which the students would start their rehearsal.

The HLG asked the concerned officials to ensure discipline among students and ensure their safety, security, food and accommodation during the camp. He also asked the concerned officials to get undertaking/No-Objection Certificates from the students’ parents. He stated that the students would showcase their final performance on October 27 before departing to Delhi on October 29, 2024. The HLG asked the concerned officials to ensure traditional dress for the students for their performances.
DC Leh, Shri Santosh Sukhadeve, IAS, informed the HLG about the arrangements for lodging/boarding for students at Leh and in Delhi.
Deputy Secretary, Cultural Academy, Leh, Shri Tsering Paljor informed the HLG that the Department would seek help from a theatre expert to prepare the script for the Act.
First Lady, Smt Neelam Mishra; Commissioner/Secretary to the HLG, Dr L Franklin, IAS; Deputy Commissioner, Leh, Shri Santosh Sukhadeve, IAS; PS to Chairman, LAHDC Leh, Shri Jigmet Raftan, JKAS; Deputy Secretary, Cultural Academy, Leh, Shri Tsewang Paljor and teachers from Leh and Kargil were present during the meeting.
