VoL Desk, August 29: Sankoo Subdivision observed complete shutdown in the whole region from Parkachik to Kanoor pushing for district status to Sankoo Subdivision.

The call for the protest was given by the United Movement for Sankoo District Status a body of all religious institutions and political parties of the Subdivision.

The demand for District status for Sankoo has intensified after the announcement of Ministry of Home Affairs to give five new districts for Ladakh that excludes Sankoo Subdivision.

The newly forming districts are Zanskar, Drass, Nubra, Sham and Changthang.
