LAHDC Leh discuss Project Proposal for Heritage Documentation and Mapping Initiative
Leh, Aug 20: The Hon’ble Chairman/CEC LAHDC, Leh, Adv. Tashi Gyalson chaired a meeting today in the Conference Hall of the Council Secretariat to discuss the Project Proposal for the LAHDC Heritage Documentation and Mapping Initiative.
Executive Councillor for Art and Culture Stanzin Chosphel; Additional Deputy Commissioner Leh Sh. Ghulam Mohd (JKAS); Chief Planning Officer, Leh Tsewang Gyalson; Private Secretary to Chairman Jigmet Raftan; Deputy Secretary Culture Tsewang Paljor and District Informatics Officer Tashi Tondup were present during the meeting.
Konchok Tashi and Stanzin Otsal, Plannable Consultants presented the project by giving a presentation which aims to address the urgent challenges facing heritage sites in Leh due to rapid urbanization, environmental degradation, and neglect.

The project’s primary objective is to conduct a comprehensive survey, documentation, and analysis of all historical sites across the district, which includes 95 panchayats and one Urban Local Body (ULB) encompassing around 190 villages and hamlets.
The discussion highlighted the need to start with a pilot project in Singey Lalok Block, establish a memorandum of understanding, and form an expert committee for a holistic approach to the initiative.
