Pressing for book reading habit, KGS Library celebrates World Book Day
VoL Desk, April 23: On the occasion of World Book and Copyright Day, Khwaja Ghulam Sayyiden Library organized a seminar at Khomeini Tower today aimed at highlighting the significance of book reading, literature, research, and heritage preservation.
On the occasion, local historian and author, Raza Amjad Badgami and entrepreneur Shabir Hussain Fayaz were present as resource persons. Besides, other guests present were the Vice-Chairman, IKMT Sheikh Hassnain Rizwani, Councillor Yourbaltak Manzoor Hussain, branch heads of IKMT and members of KGS library.
Renowned historian, Mr. Raza Amjad Badgami, captivated the audience with his insightful discourse on the review of historical literature in context to Ladakh. Emphasizing the dearth of comprehensive work on Kargil’s historical narrative, Mr. Badgami urged scholars and enthusiasts to embark on research endeavors to preserve and disseminate the region’s heritage.

Further enriching the event, Mr. Shabir Hussain Fayaz shed light on the significance of Traditional Medicinal Knowledge. Advocating for the revival of traditional healing practices, Mr. Fayaz encouraged students to actively engage in documenting and safeguarding the invaluable traditional medicinal heritage of Kargil.
In recognition of their invaluable contributions, the Executive Members of Khwaja Ghulam Sayyiden Library, IKMT, presented certificates of appreciation to the esteemed speakers. Mr. Anwar Ali Tsarpa conveyed heartfelt gratitude on behalf of the organizers, acknowledging the speakers, participants, and supporters for their unwavering commitment to intellectual enrichment and cultural preservation.
The event concluded on a convivial note, with attendees enjoying refreshments and fostering connections in the spirit of camaraderie and scholarly pursuit.
