Improvement Notices Issued to Food Business Operators in Ladakh under Section 32 of FSS ACT 2006
Kargil, April 22: The Designated Officers of Food Safety in Leh & Kargil, under the directions of the Commissioner of Food Safety, UT Ladakh, have issued 17 improvement notices to various Food Business Operators (FBOs) in the region.
The notices were issued due to non-compliance with the Food Safety and Standards (FSS) Label and Display Regulations 2020, FSS Organic Regulations 2018, and FSS Advertisement & Claims Regulations 2018. The FBOs have been given a response time of 20 days to address these issues.
Main non compliance was observed in Organic Claims with the certification from NPOP, PGS & without proper endorsement from Ladakhs Food Authorities.
The Commissioner of Food Safety, UT Ladakh, directed to inform the FBOs about the necessary corrective measures to be taken. The FBOs are expected to comply with these measures within the stipulated response time.

Non-compliance with these regulations will lead to prosecution under Section 52 (Misbranded) & 53 (Misleading Claims) of the Food Safety and Standards Act 2006 & Rules 2011.
