Kargil, Dec 19: Chairman/CEC, LAHDC, Kargil, Dr Mohd Jaffer Akhoon, chaired a meeting at Conference Hall, Council Secretariat, regarding the construction of Multi Level Car parking and to deliberate on various developmental projects in Kargil town under different schemes.

Executive Councillor for Tourism, Councillor (Town, Poyen, Baroo), Director, Urban Ladakh Development, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Kargil, Administrator of Municipal Committee Kargil, Tehsildar Kargil, and Executive Engineer of R&B, Executive Officer, MC Kargil, Assistant Director Tourism, attended the meeting.

During the meeting, CEC Akhoon emphasized the importance of keeping LAHDC Kargil informed and involved in all developmental initiatives and asked for sectoral coordination.

CEC, Dr Jaffer underscored the significance of beautifying Kargil town under Svadesh Darshan 2.0 and outlined specific projects to be taken under different schemes of ULB and Tourism including footpaths in various Municipal Committee wards and Sewage Treatment Plant installations.

It has been decided in the meeting that the Multi Storied Car Parking at existing bus stand shall be developed by Urban Local Body. He particularly urged officials to devise a plan to alleviate traffic congestion in town, beautification of bridges, cycling tracks toward Honaki Poyen, Park near powerhouse Poyen and a foot bridge connecting Circular Road to Poyen and Baroo -Andoo.

CEC also urged upon the agencies to work in close coordination to avoid haphazard development and to ensure planned execution of work for completion within the prescribed timeline so that the citizens may not face inconvenience.
