VoL Desk, Dec. 12: Last night, a devastating fire swept through Tia village in the Sham region, resulting in the complete destruction of four residential houses and significant property damage. CEC Tashi Gyalson personally evaluated the aftermath of this unfortunate incident.

Addressing the distressing situation caused by the fire, the CEC highlighted that the District Administration (DDMA), Leh, has promptly dispatched essential household relief materials to assist the affected families.

Expressing solidarity with those impacted, the CEC assured that the LAHDC Leh and the Administration are committed to taking all necessary measures under various welfare schemes, including ‘Housing for all,’ to expedite compensation for the losses.

However, concerns were raised by the public regarding the absence of an emergency fire service station at Khaltse, which reportedly contributed to the severity of the damages. Despite this, the swift action of villagers who gathered promptly to control the fire is commendable.
